DUM Series U-Channel Linear Motor Module — custom width and travel

The Fanlin DUM series U-channel linear motor modules are built on ironless (U-channel) linear motor direct-drive technology. The forcer coils are epoxy-potted around an I-beam core, and twin magnet tracks enclose the magnetic circuit on both sides. With no iron core, the design eliminates cogging and magnetic attraction forces, delivering exceptionally smooth motion with ultra-low velocity ripple. The lightweight forcer enables high acceleration and fast response, while high-resolution optical encoders provide sub-micron repeatability. Magnet tracks splice modularly so travel can be extended per application, ideal for light-load, high-speed, high-precision automation.

Fanlin Tech specializes in precision motion control. The DUM series is centered on ironless U-channel direct-drive technology: zero cogging delivers ultra-low velocity ripple and outstanding positioning stability, the lightweight forcer delivers high acceleration, and spliced magnet tracks with multi-coil combinations support custom travel and thrust for precision assembly, dispensing, inspection and high-speed scanning.

Ironless, Zero Cogging

No cogging or magnetic attraction; velocity ripple below 0.5% for smooth motion even at low speed

Lightweight, High Acceleration

Low forcer mass and inertia deliver fast start/stop response for high-frequency shuttling and scanning

Multi-Level Precision

Three repeatability options—1 μm, 0.1 μm and 50 nm—deliver consistent positioning for each application

Easy Assembly, Low Maintenance

No attractive forces simplify assembly and maintenance; spliced magnet tracks allow flexible travel and thrust

Precision Assembly

Light-load pick-and-place, mounting and positioning with cog-free motion for smooth, consistent paths

Dispensing

High-speed, high-precision dispensing trajectories with ripple-free multi-point switching

Semiconductor Inspection

Precision stepping for inspection and metrology stations; low ripple safeguards imaging quality

High-Speed Scanning

Reciprocating scanning and spectral measurement balancing throughput with smooth motion

Without an iron core, the motor has no cogging or normal attractive forces, producing extremely smooth motion with low velocity ripple, and positioning accuracy is limited only by the feedback device. It suits light-load, high-speed, high-precision applications; choose the iron-core DM series when higher force is required.

Yes. Magnet tracks splice modularly for 60 – 3000 mm travel, and multi-coil forcer combinations raise continuous force; feedback, cable tracks and protection are configured per application.
